Enterprise Integration Architect & Engineering Leader

Integration & Cloud Architect Data Architect & Platform Strategist People Leader

I build and run the platforms that move enterprise data: the APIs, EDI, and event streams that carry transactions between systems, and the ETL pipelines, data models, and lakehouse architecture that turn those transactions into something the business can report on. Today I lead a 20+ person organization spanning application development, EDI, and enterprise integration, pairing hands-on depth in cloud, iPaaS, ERP, and data platform ecosystems with the work of hiring, coaching, and growing engineers.

Ten years at U.S. Venture, from writing C# for ecommerce to owning the enterprise integration and data movement strategy and the organization that delivers it.

  1. Enterprise Integration Architect · AI Tech Lead · Engineering Manager

U.S. Venture, Inc. · Appleton, WI

    – Present

    Highlights
    • Lead a 20+ person engineering organization spanning application development, EDI, and enterprise integration, with three direct reports overseeing 12 software engineers from Level I through Senior, a solutions architect, two business analysts, and a QA function.
    • Own the enterprise integration and EDI strategy, setting the multi-year technical direction for how U.S. Venture's systems connect and exchange data.
    • Own the data movement architecture end to end, choosing per use case between real-time API and event-driven integration and batch ETL and ELT pipelines into the enterprise data lake and warehouse.
    • Set data architecture standards the team builds against: source-of-truth definition for each dataset, logical and physical data modeling, lineage, and the monitoring and reprocessing patterns that keep pipelines trustworthy.
    • Run all integration delivery across three dedicated pods (US AutoForce, EDI, and Corporate/Boomi), aligning pod structure and staffing to business priorities.
    • Took over the US AutoForce backend services team and its estate of roughly 42 applications: order placement, inventory stock checks, returns, EDI, customer statement generation, and the reporting applications behind pricing and inventory. These are the transactional backbone the operating company runs on.
    • Inherited that estate on .NET 4.7, hosted entirely on-premises, with no centralized logging or monitoring. Ran working sessions with the engineers to collect their pain points first, then set a modernization roadmap built from that feedback: upgrade to current .NET, move source control from Azure DevOps to GitHub, stand up centralized logging and monitoring, and containerize the applications ahead of a move to the cloud.
    • Changed how work reaches that team. Engineers now take the business problem directly instead of receiving isolated tasks, and delivery status is visible to the team and its stakeholders rather than held inside project management.
    • Run the integration team against explicit operating goals of stability, reliability, and visibility across 150+ integrations spanning APIs, ETL pipelines, and event-driven flows on Redpanda Kafka, with .NET integration work outside the US AutoForce estate covered on the same team.
    • Manage hybrid onshore and offshore teams end to end: lead hiring for internal engineering roles, and evaluate and onboard staff-augmentation talent, including an offshore senior Boomi developer running 150+ integrations.
    • Lead the organization's technical implementation of AI, covering tooling strategy and rollout for Claude, Cursor, and GCP ADK, and development of production AI agents in Python and .NET.
    • Own budget and spend across all three pods and manage vendor relationships for core tooling including Claude, Cursor, Fivetran, and Boomi.
    • Drive a cross-functional cohort advancing enterprise-wide data modernization with stakeholders across business and technology functions outside the integration team.
    • Built the team's practice inside the Data & Analytics (DnA) organization before it merged into Engineering & Architecture, so integration and analytics were governed as one data estate rather than two, and carried that perspective into the combined org.
  2. Application Engineer II

U.S. Venture, Inc. · Appleton, WI

    –

    Highlights
    • Served as ERP technical lead for the organization's D365FO implementation, coordinating design, development, and delivery across business and technical teams.
    • Directed 10+ offshore developers against architecture standards, coding practices, and project timelines.
    • Administered D365FO and AX2012 across 60+ cloud and local development environments and 9 ISV solutions, and led modernization work including AX2012 CU upgrades and AIF integrations.
    • Designed CI/CD pipelines and managed code promotion through Azure DevOps, TeamCity, GitHub, and Octopus Deploy.
    • Built ETL pipelines in Azure Data Factory and stood up Synapse workspaces, and configured D365 Data Lake and the Data Management Framework to enable Power BI reporting and real-time analytics.
    • Defined ERP security roles and auditing policies supporting data governance and compliance.
  3. Programmer Analyst

U.S. Venture, Inc. · Appleton, WI

    –

    Highlights
    • Developed web applications in C# supporting ecommerce and vendor sales initiatives.
    • Designed and supported backend systems for product catalog management, shipping accuracy, and keyword SEO.
    • Ran market and pricing analysis against internal and competitive data, sharpening sales strategy and visibility.

Writing

Notes on enterprise integration, platform strategy, and leading engineering teams.

Changing our logging means changing one thing, not 150

Our Boomi portfolio is past 150 integrations. When we need to change how logging works across all of them, we change one thing. We built the hook early, and it has paid back more than any other sequencing call on the platform.
